East Pennsboro Township has a first rate, 15 member highway department. We’re one of the few municipalities in the region that paves and maintains most of its own roads, a cost savings to taxpayers. Top notch crews do an outstanding job of maintaining more than 70 miles of Township roads and streets annually, as well as picking up leaves in the fall and clearing snow in the winter.
The sewer department, meanwhile, consists of 14 employees who operate and maintain an increasingly sophisticated and recently upgraded 4.4 million gallon Township Sewage Treatment Plant, 13 pump stations, and many miles of underground wastewater lines throughout the Township.
Trash service is provided weekly through a private contractor, and includes curbside recycling and pickup of large items such as old furniture and appliances. Large items can also be disposed of at other times by scheduling a pickup by Penn Waste or by obtaining a permit at the township office and dropping off the item(s) at the old Public Works Building ( 750 S. Humer Street) on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month (7am to noon). Used motor oil from autos and lawnmowers can be dropped off for recycling at Public Works Building (645 Tower Road) Monday through Friday (7am to 3pm).
