East Pennsboro Township one of the first municipalities in Cumberland County with the ability to quickly alert our residents - on a household-to-household basis, of any emergency situation within our community. This system was recommended by our Township’s Hometown Security Council, made up of Township officials, Police, emergency responders, business, and community partners. The Township contracted with SwiftReach Networks, Inc. to provide the service when needed.

The system will make rapid automated telephone calls - with many households being contacted at the same instant. It gives a recorded message detailing the emergency and advises residents of precautions or other actions to take. The system will also enable notification of individual neighborhoods, certain blocks within neighborhoods, or homes and businesses within a certain radius of an emergency - when a township wide alert is unnecessary. It’s aimed at enhancing the safety and protection of our citizens during any emergency.
