East Pennsboro Township offers year round opportunities for children to play, learn and compete in a team environment.  Team sports are provided by local Youth Sports Groups using a combination of Township Parks sports fields, private fields and the facilities of East Pennsboro School District. 
We also provided places for children to play and learn during the summer in our Camps and Playgrounds. 
The Recreation Board sponsors some great events and programs for children of all ages around major holidays.

TOWNSHIP HALLOWEEN PARADE   October 26, 2011  7:00pm
The Township’s Halloween Parade will form at  the East Pennsboro High School this year and march to the Township Building  Prizes will be awarded for many categories.  Please pre-register for one of the individual or group categories by email:
 recreation@eastpennsboro.net  or by calling the Recreation Office at 909-5630.

ANNUAL TREE LIGHTING & SANTA VISIT    Wednesday Dec 7th, 2011  Township Building
The Annual Tree Lighting and Santa visit will feature the Girl Scouts singing carols, and coloring contest winners will be announced.  Lights on the EP Township Christmas Tree will be officially turned on during the ceremony.  Refreshments will be served in the gym after the ceremony. 
Santa will be at the Township Building from 5:30 to 6:30pm and from 7:30 to 8:00pm .  He will attend the Tree Lighting Ceremony and take last minute wish lists for Christmas.  Treats and Photo’s (for a small fee) will be available for those visiting Santa.

CHRISTMAS COLORING CONTEST   
Children in pre-school, kindergarten, first or second grades can show off their creative talents by entering the annual Christmas Coloring Contest.  Pictures to be colored will be available on the Township website and will be distributed to West Creek and East Pennsboro Elementary as well as some of the Township’s day care centers.  They can also be picked up at the Township Building in the Recreation Department.
Completed pictures should be colored by the child and turned in to the Rec office not later than Nov 11th. Pictures will be judged by the EP High School art classes and winners will be announced during the Tree Lighting Ceremony.  All pictures will be on display in the Gym during the Ceremony Dec 7th and you may take them  home.

Coloring Contest

EASTER EGG HUNT   Saturday April 16th, 2011  1:00pm SHARP
Adams-Ricci Park.      Rain/Snow date April 17th 2:00pm
New this year a “parent and child” hunting area.  All ages are welcome in this area. The other area are broken down into the following groups:  3 & 4 years old, 5 & 6 years old, 7 & 8 years old and 9 & 10 years old.  Each area is for the children to gather as many eggs as their basket will hold. We ask that parents REMAIN AT THE START LINE because the hunting area is small.  For safety reasons.....Kid Only. 

The eggs are filled with toys, candy and money.  There are quarters and dollars in a selected number of eggs that will be scattered thorugh the hunting area.  We do recycle the empty eggs at the Concession Stand before you leave.  Feel free to take your eggs along or drop them with us!  Giant Foods will be bringing the BUNNY up for visits before , during and after the egg hunt.  Feel free to take your own pictures!  No registration is required and cancellation information will be available online or answer machine at 909-5630.   REMEMBER the hunt starts 1pm and it will be over quickly, so don’t miss out!

“KIDS ONLY” YARD SALE     Saturday, June 4th 2011, 9:00am -12:00noon
Back by popular demand - this is our 10th year dedicated to the children of East Pennsboro Twp.  Adults have yard sales and now the children have their very own event in Adams-Ricci Park.  The West Shore Ecumenical Ministerium will also be joining us to provide free carnival like games and entertainment for the children.  Boy Scouts will be operating the concession stand for snacks, hot dogs and drinks.

School age children will be able to display and sell their old toys, games, collectibles, clothes, bikes and anything else that’s kids oriented.  Many of our local churches will be there with children’s activities, games and prizes.. 

Each registered child, along with adult supervision, will receive approximately 10’x10’ space (a parking space). Spaces are FREE to Township residents. Everyone can sell their goodies and take a look and buy the other kids treasures on display.  Grab a few tables from around the house and unload your good stuff for cash. 

This is a kid’s event - parents may only assist - there will be no commercial or adult sales during this event.  Any child of school age is eligible.  Participants must pre-register with the Recreation Department by calling 909-5630.  Registration closes May 20.  No rain date is scheduled.

TOWNSHIP MEMORIAL DAY PARADE & MEMORIAL SERVICE    
Sunday May 22nd, 2011,  2pm   no rain date
Parade on Enola Drive starting at Pine Street   Memorial Service at Zion Lutheran Church

Each year the Board of Recreation and Enola American Legion Post # 751, Sons of the American Legion and Legion Auxiliary plan a special observance honor those who have saved our country serving in the Armed Forces. 
The parade forms at Pine Street in South Enola and proceeds on Enola Drove to the Legion Wall of Honor for a brief Memorial Service.  Service begins approximately 3pm with guest speaker, veterans groups, honored guests, music by the East Pennsboro High School Marching Band and the traditional 21 gun salute.  Individuals and groups wishing to participate may call the Recreation Department at 909-5630 to register.  There is no rain date scheduled for the parade, however, the Memorial Service will be held on Sunday May 23th at 2pm in the banquet room of American Legion Post #751 on Shady Lane if the parade is rained out.

EMERGENCY SERVICES CARNIVAL
East Pennsboro Township Fire Companies, Ambulance Service and the Fire Police Association
will stage the 3nd annual CARNIVAL JUNE 20- 25,2011 at Adams-Ricci Park as a benefit for the Emergency Services of East Pennsboro Township. 
This Carnival will be like the one you remember as a kid with great Rides, Midway Games, Food, Live Entertainment and Fireworks.  Carnival rides, pay one price and ride all night.
 

MOONLIGHT MOVIES AT ADAMS-RICCI PARK   near caboose   JULY23 and
AUGUST 20, 2011  
Bring your family, friends, neighbors and pets along to enjoy a “SURPRISE” G or PG movie at Adams-Ricci Park.  A huge screen will be set up near the Caboose.  Please bring your blankets and chairs along to make yourself at home!  Don’t forget when the sun goes down it does get a little chilly!  Arrive about 20 minutes early because we fill up fast.  We will provide the popcorn, but please bring your own soda!
